Steven Allen Hillson

Steven Allen Hillson, resident of Owasso, Oklahoma, passed away Saturday, January 4, 2014, in Tulsa. He was 63 years of age.

Steve was born on January 22, 1950, to Donald and Anies (DeMetts) Hillson in Charles City. He was raised and received his education there, graduating Charles City High School in 1968.

He later attended the University of Northern Iowa.

On June 23, 1973, he and Joan Overman were united in marriage at State Center, Iowa. They made their home in Iowa until moving to Owasso in 1982. Steve had worked in retail management most of his life, most recently with Reasor’s Grocery in Owasso.

He was a member of Faith Lutheran Church, Owasso. Steve was a “People Person,” never meeting a stranger. He was also an avid reader, especially history and geography and enjoyed carpentry, doing home improvements around their home.

Those that survive and hold many cherished memories include his wife Joan; a daughter Angie Hillson of Owasso; and a son Tom Hillson and wife Maggie of Bangor, Washington. Also surviving is his grandson Chance; two brothers Tom Hillson and wife Glenda of Ames, and David Hillson and wife Cynthia of Mooresville, N.C.; and a sister Denise Long and husband Steven of Cedar Rapids. He was preceded in death by his parents.

In accordance with Steve’s request, cremation has taken place. Memorial services will be held at 11 a.m., Saturday, Jan. 11, 2014, at Faith Lutheran Church in Owasso, with Mr. Richard Casper officiating.

Memorial contributions in Steve’s memory may be made to the family. Arrangements and services have been entrusted to Mowery Funeral Service of Owasso, Oklahoma, www.moweryfs.com.
