Jeannie Farrell was born May 22, 1951, in New Hampton to Guy and Ursula “Tudy” (Walsh) Farrell, moving to Charles City when she was 6 months old. She attended Immaculate Conception School until it closed in 1968, then moved to the Charles City Public High School where she graduated in 1969.
In 1970, Jeannie began attending Hawkeye Community College in Waterloo where she met her soulmate, William “Bill” Kyle. After graduating with her LPN in 1971, she began working at Floyd County Memorial Hospital. Bill and Jeannie were married on July 8, 1972, in Charles City. They were married for over 41 years, and had a love story that can never be matched. To this union was born three children: Nicole Erin, Todd Earl and Kelli Marie.
She was an amazing wife and mother, not only to her three grateful children, but to every child that came to her home. At the time of her death, she was very much looking forward to her new grandson “Lil Dude”. During her life in Charles City, Jeannie worked as an LPN, a travel agent for R&R Travel and office manager at Charles City Aeronautics/North Iowa Air Service. She loved people, and she chose a career that allowed her to do what she loved best – be surrounded by people who loved her.
She was beloved by everyone who ever met her, and the feeling was mutual. For her entire life, she took care of everyone she met. She was our rock and our compass.
Jeannie is survived by the love of her life, her husband, Bill; her children, Nicole Kyle of Mankato, Minn; Todd and Lara Kyle of Clear Lake, and Kelli Kyle of Chicago, Illinois; her sisters, Ruth Meihost of Denver and Rita Hutton of Naperville, Illinois; her brother, Earl Farrell of Clinton; brother-in-law, Larry and Patt Kyle of Littleton, Colorado; sisters-in-law Darlene Farrell of Algona, Mary Farrell of Minneapolis, Minn, and Dolores Kyle of Joppa, Maryland; brother and sister of the heart, Dave and Charlotte Nehls of Ionia; numerous nieces, nephews, and friends; and her family at the airports.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her parents-in-law, Lyle and Dorothy Kyle; brothers, Michael Farrell and Edward Farrell; sister, Mary Farrell in infancy; brothers-in-law, Kenneth Kyle, John Kyle in infancy, Vern Meihost, and Darrell Hutton; and sister-in-law, Bev Farrell.
The family would like to thank all of our family and friends for their love and support. Jeannie loved life, and she loved all of you. She will be missed.
Memorials may be directed to the Jeannie Kyle Memorial Fund, Immaculate Conception Catholic Church or Charity of Choice.
