CHARLES CITY, IOWA - Dorothy M. Bartz, 70, of Charles City, died Thursday, October 24, 2013, at the Floyd County Medical Center in Charles City.

A funeral Mass will be 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church. The Rev. Carl Ries will preside at the Mass. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery at Charles City.

Friends may call at the Hauser Funeral Home from 5 to 8 p.m. Monday where there will be a Scriptural Prayer Service at 7:30 p.m. Visitation will continue Tuesday at the church one hour prior to the service.

The Hauser Funeral Home, 641-228-2323, in Charles City, is in charge of arrangements. Online condolences may be left for the family at www.hauserfh.com

Dorothy Marie (Swaroff) Bartz was born June 21, 1943, in Charles City, the daughter of John and Hildred (Elbert) Swaroff. She attended and graduated salutatorian from Immaculate Conception High School in 1961. Dorothy then continued her education by getting a degree in Radiological Technology through a school in the Minneapolis, Minn., area. She worked as a Radiological Technologist at Floyd County Memorial Hospital in Charles City, Mercy Hospital of North Iowa in Mason City and Park Clinic in Mason City.

Dorothy was united in marriage to Dennis Bartz on October 12, 1968. Dorothy was a member of Immaculate Conception Catholic Church where she helped serve many funerals. She enjoyed crocheting, canning fruits and veggies, knitting, sewing, gambling, plants, birds, watching sports (her favorite team was the Iowa Hawkeyes) and completing crosswords.

Dorothy loved spending time with her family whether it was cooking wonderful food for all of them, watching her grandkids in their various activities or traveling.

Living family members include her husband of 45 years, Dennis of Charles City; children: Dee (Terry) Scheibel of Charles City, Brad (Brenda) Bartz of Vinton, Travis (Lisa) Bartz of Charles City and Alicia (Tyler) Evans of Urbandale; eight grandchildren: Ali, Luke, Tyler, Justin, Abby, Baylie, Paige and Hayden; two sisters: Katie (Jan) Krajewski of Arvada, Colorado, and Mary (Al) Williams of Charles City; two brothers: Phil (Cindy) Swaroff of Lincoln, Nebraska, and Jay Swaroff of Charles City; uncle, Jerome Schlader of Rockford; cousin, Dave (Lori) Sharp of Plainfield; along with numerous nieces, nephews, other family members and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents, John and Hildred Swaroff; her father-in-law and mother-in-law, George and Evelyn Bartz; and her aunt, Totsy Schlader of Rockford.
