The people of this entire community were saddened to hear of the death of Ruth, the youngest daughter of Rev. and Mrs. John Daake, now located at Pearl City, Ill.

Ruth was very well known here, having often visited here with her parents among their many relatives. She was born near Lansing, Iowa, January 1915, and reached the age of seven years and nine months. Her seemingly untimely death was due to a siege of diabetes, of which she suffered about four months. She was, before her fatal illness, a robust sturdy child, a favorite among her friends and playmates everywhere. When the dreaded disease laid hold on her, every medical aid and tender care was given her until the little life quietly ebbed away on October 26. She has gone to the heavenly home to join the band of angels hovering 'round about Jesus who said: "Let the little ones come to me, for of such is the kingdom of Heaven."

She leaves her father and mother, and an older sister Esther, and a host of relatives and friends, who will miss her smiling face and cheerful presence.

The remains were brought by the parents and sister on Friday to the home of Adolph Daake. On Saturday afternoon the funeral services were held at the [Flood Creek] church conducted by the local pastor Rev. F. Hoffman, assisted by Rev. J. Klaus and F. Thiel of Charles City and Rev. Mund of W. St. Charles [Methodist Church]. A large attendance of relatives and old friends of the parents were present on this occasion. The sympathy of the entire community goes to them in their sorrow.

The offering of flowers was beautiful. The body, enclosed in a snow white casket, was buried in the local [Flood Creek] Cemetery.
