Last Rites at Charles City for Aged Man

CHARLES CITY-- Funeral Services for Jake E. Schaefer, 81, were held Tuesday at 2 p.m., at the Hauser Funeral Home, the Rev. B. Truman Holsather, pastor of the Covenant Evangelical Church, will officiate. Burial in the Flood Creek Cemetery. He died Saturday evening in the Cedar Valley Hospital where he had been a patient one day. He suffered a stroke a week ago.

Mr. Schaefer had been a lifelong resident of Charles City until a year and a half ago when he moved to the Good Samaritan Nursing Home in Rockford. Mr. Schaefer was born Jan. 25, 1873, at Portland, Wis., son of the Rev. Peter and Elizabeth Readlinger Schaefer.

Surviving are two sisters, Mrs. John Daake, of Eldora, and Miss Lizzie Schaefer, of Charles City. His parents, four brothers and four sisters preceded him in death.
