MARBLE ROCK, IOWA - Yvonne Delotia Litterer, 83, of Marble Rock, passed away Thursday, October 17, 2013, at Nora Springs Care Center in Nora Springs.

A funeral service will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Thursday, October 24, 2013, at First United Methodist Church, 21 Third St N.W., Rockford (via the Nora Springs Exit). The Rev. Judy Wooton will be officiating. Interment will follow at Sunnyside Memorial Gardens Cemetery in Charles City.

A visitation will be held from 4 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, October 23, 2013, at the church. For those who desire to send flowers please have them sent to the church the day of visitation.

Yvonne was born on January 12, 1930, to John and Alvina Wagner at their home near Rudd. She was the middle child and grew up on a farm. In 1947 she graduated from Rockford High School. She earned her teaching certificate and taught country school for one year.

On September 15, 1949, Yvonne was united in marriage to Arnold Edgar Litterer. Yvonne spent most of her life as a busy farmer’s wife taking care of their six children.

Yvonne was a member of the First United Church in Rockford where she volunteered as a Sunday school teacher and also participated in the First United Methodist Women’s Circle. Outside of church Yvonne was a member of the neighborhood birthday club called Natalla.

Yvonne’s hobbies included: gardening (flowers and vegetables), quilting, and playing cards (such as 500 and solitaire). She was an excellent cook and baker. Her specialty was homemade bread and cinnamon rolls, all made from scratch.

Yvonne was a very caring, family oriented person. She loved traveling with her husband to visit their children as they got older. Yvonne and Arnold visited Australia twice in her lifetime. Yvonne was a hard worker around the farm and in the household. She had a determined attitude. Even the diagnosis of Multiple Sclerosis couldn’t stop her from doing the things she enjoyed most. She believed in dealing with the cards you were dealt and taught her children to never give up.

Those left to carry on Yvonne’s legacy include her husband of 64 years, Arnold Litterer of Marble Rock; children, Larry (Becky) Litterer of Dougherty, Evelyn (Thomas) McAdam of Sale, Australia, Russell (Mary) Litterer of Rockford, Janette Jess of Seattle, Wash., Denise (Bill) Dow of Rockford, and Jerry (Jennifer) Litterer of Bellevue; 18 grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren and two on the way; brother, Darwin Wagner of Nora Springs; and numerous nieces, nephews, brothers-in-laws, sisters-in-laws, other relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by her father and mother, John and Alvina Wagner; father-in-law and mother-in-law, Theophil and Elsie Litterer; sister, Muriel Christians; sister-in-law, Ruth Fisher; and brothers-in-laws, Wynton Christians, Ralph Litterer, Lawrence Litterer, Hulda Fisher, and Lyle Fisher.
