ACKLEY

The sad news reached here this morning of the death of Miss Ruth Ackley at the Hospital in Waterloo at 5:15 this morning as the result of Pneumonia following the influenza.

Miss Ackley was taken ill nearly three weeks ago and for several days her condition was not considered serious. Then Pneumonia set in and she became critically ill. Her condition was so serious that on Tuesday evening, December 17 she was taken to the hospital at Waterloo where little hopes have been held out for her recovery.

Miss Ackley has for the past three years been a most efficient and accommodating assistant Post Mistress and for the past three months since the resignation of her father as Post Master, she has had full charge of the office. In this capacity she has given the best of satisfaction and many had hoped she would be appointed to this responsible position.

She had enjoyed the best of health until stricken with the influenza which resulted in her death as stated above.

Arrangements have not yet been made for the funeral services but the community will pause to pay a fitting tribute to the memory of the energetic young business woman.
