FRIEDRICH WILHELM DAAKE (8 May 1833 - 24 Sep 1913)

Friedrich Wilhelm Daake was born at Heidelbeck in Germany the 8th day of May, 1833. He was raised in a Christian family and confirmed in the reformed church. Since his 14th year he worked as a shoemaker and worked at his trade until his eightieth year.

In the year 1871 he was joined in marriage with Miss Henrietta Muller. To this union three children were born. His daughter Marie die in her sixth year. Having been a widower three years, he was joined in marriage again in the year 1881 with Mathilde Mechelke, the present widow. To this union were born six children; one son, Willie, died in infancy. In 1885 Mr. Daake came to this country and in the same year settled in Rockford.

The deceased was a quiet, industrious man, and a kind husband and father. He was a familiar figure in Rockford and will be missed by many.

The funeral was held from the Lutheran Church Saturday afternoon at 2 o'clock, conducted by Rev. Schuchard and interment was made at Riverside.

Those present from out of town were: the sons, Fred of Kearney, Nebraska; Carl of Riverdale, Nebraska; Paul of Iowa Falls, Iowa; Herman of Marion, Ohio; Frank of Waterloo, Iowa; the daughter, Mrs. Dora Henning of Kearney, Nebraska; a brother, August Daake and wife of Charles City.
