Foster, Carmi J.
FOSTER - At his home in Charles City, Iowa, February 19, 1895, Carmi J. Foster, of typhoid fever, aged 37 years, 3 months and 5 days.
Carmi J. Foster was born in Cedar Township, Floyd County, Iowa, November 14, 1857. His early days were spent upon his father's farm. He was married January 31, 1878 to Miss Lulu Wentworth. No children were born of this union. His wife died in the spring of 1885. On November 16, 1887 he was again married to Miss Libbie Gleason, of Rockford. To them one child was born, Lulu.
The deceased was a member of the Congregational Church and was a devout Christian. Honest in his dealing with his fellow men he was admired by all and the deepest sympathy is expressed for his bereaved wife, who keenly feels the separation. That the future looked bright and happy for him is truly expressed in his last words to his wife that he was going to sleep in Jesus, and had no desire to live longer and suffer in this waste of sorrow, but he longed to go home to peace and joy with his Redeemer.
Besides a wife and child, a brother and father are left to mourn his death. The funeral services were held at the Congregational Church Thursday at 1 o'clock, Rev. T. M. Evans officiating, and the remains were placed beside those of his first wife in Riverside Cemetery. The Modern Woodman Lodge of which he was a member had charge of the services.
During the funeral hour all places of business on Main Street were closed.
