Mrs. Adam Miller

Mrs. Adam A. Miller of Carrville, committed suicide Sunday forenoon at the home of her stepfather, Mr. John Shannon, by taking strychnine.

She was 23 years old. The family were in the sitting room when she came in with some bottles and laid them on the table, saying she had taken a tablespoonful of the contents of one of them, which was supposed to contain strychnine. She laid down on a lounge and in about twenty minutes went into convulsions.

A doctor from Nashua was summoned but she died before his arrival. Dr C. W. Knickerbocker, the coroner, was summoned who held an inquest and rendered a verdict that she came to her death from the effects of poison administered by herself with suicidal intent. No cause was given for the act except that she had been despondent for some time, her husband having left her about a year and a half ago.
