Herber, Leo E.

Died, January 29, 1904, at the home of Adolph Herbrechtsmeyer, on Flood Creek, Leo E. Herber, aged 17 years 7 months and 25 days.

In the twinkling of an eye God called him home. It was a hard blow to his brothers and sisters as he was always well and happy, looking on the bright side of everything.

He arose in the morning as usual and did his morning work, but not feeling very well, told his employer, Mr. Herbrechtsmeyer, that he would take a day off. He went to the house and sat around the stove until almost noon when he went upstairs and went to bed. At noon he was called to have some dinner and answered, saying that he would be right down. Not coming, Mrs. Herbrechtsmeyer went up to the room, when he said he did not care for any dinner and would not be down. Somewhere about 3:00 she went up again and took him some cookies, telling him that he had better eat them as they would do him good and he ate them. About five in the afternoon she went up again to see him and he had gone to meet his Savior.

He leaves to mourn his loss two brothers, Frank and Charles, and five sisters, Misses Tilda and Emma Herber, Mrs. Lewis Kober, Mrs. Fred Pagles and Mrs. W. W. Schermerhorn.

Rev. Wilson Denny officiating. The remains were laid to rest in Riverside Cemetery beside his father and mother. "God moves in a mysterious way his wonders to perform."

The funeral of Leo Herber was held today at 1:00 from the home of W. Schermerhorn and was quite largely attended by sorrowing friends and relatives. Interment was made in Riverside Cemetery.
