Nelson, Nick

Fatal Accident

NORA SPRINGS TELEPHONE - Another horrible accident happened Tuesday, eight miles north of town. Nick Nelson was stacking grain on his farm and his father was sharpening sticks that are necessary to hold the top bundles in place when the stack is complete, and had placed one against the stack on which Mr. Nelson was working. Having competed the stack, he slid to the ground and ran the sharpened stick almost through the length of his body, it coming out near the shoulder, Mr. Nelson unaided, removed the stick. He was taken to the house and the doctor summoned, who examined him and found that he had been pierced through the liver, which dispelled all hopes of his recovery.

The accident happened at 10:00 o'clock a.m. and the unfortunate man lived until 4:00 o'clock the next morning. The funeral was held Wednesday. Mr. Nelson was a man of considerable means and leaves a family to mourn his departure.
