Charles City — Maxine Helen Sturm, 86, of Charles City, died on Monday, August 26, 2013, at Cedar Health, 507 Fifth Street, Charles City.

Fullerton-Hage Funeral Home in Charles City, is in charge of arrangements. Online condolences may be left at www.fullertonfh.com .

Graveside service will be held at 10 a.m. Thursday, Aug. 29, at Sunnyside Memorial Gardens, on Old Highway Road, Charles City with the Rev. Margaret Hutchens officiating.

Those planning an expression of sympathy may wish to consider memorials to First Christian Church (Disciples of Christ) 807 S. Main St., Charles City, IA 50616.

Maxine H. Sturm

Maxine H. Sturm, 86, of Charles City died on Monday August 26, 2013, at Cedar Health. A graveside service and inurnment will be held on Thursday August 29, at 10 a.m. at Sunnyside Memorial Gardens, Old Highway Road in Charles City. Reverend Margaret Hutchens will be officiating.

Maxine was born on October 8, 1926, in Mason City, Iowa. She married George Sturm on March 18, 1946, in Austin, Minnesota.

Maxine work for 13 years with the Black Hawk County Juvenile Court Systems when she lived in Waterloo, on returning to Charles City in 1988, she volunteered at Floyd County Hospital, and at the Charles City library, as an avid reader she would always say, “I love a good book!” She loved to visit Mount Rushmore. Her most favorite vacation spot was the Black Hills.

She was a member of The First Christian Church (Disciples of Christ) where she was the church secretary.

Survivors are her son Stephen Sturm and his wife Dianne of Washington, Iowa, a grandson Eric Sturm also of Washington and a granddaughter Jennifer Sturm of San Francisco, Calif.

She was preceded in death by her parents Jerome and Helen Foster, and her husband George.

In lieu of flowers or cards a memorial at The First Christian Church 807 S. Main Street Charles City, Iowa 50616, has been established.
