Charlotte was born in 1882, and married John Stoecker, of Charles City, Iowa, in 1899.

In fairly quick succession they had four children — a girl and then three boys.

“Lottie” died in 1908. The children were placed in various homes for several years, but John remarried in 1912 to an Anna Meier, or Maier, who helped raise the children. I’ve not found out what happened to the daughter. She was living with her grandparents, Adolph and Mary Baehne, in 1910 according to the US census, but nothing after that.

The older and middle sons died in their teens or early 20s—the older one (Vernett) from a railroad accident and the other (George) was shot by the sheriff’s son—a case of mistaken identity. There are several related articles on his Findagrave memorial in Riverside Cemetery, Charles City. The youngest son, Harry, moved to California.
