SECTION FOREMAN DROPS DEAD.

Wednesday morning at about half past eight o'clock, just as he had started to work with his crew of men at the work of clearing up the freight wreck, Section Foreman Alvie Barnes Hodge of a sudden fell to the ground, gasped once or twice and was dead, heart failure being the cause. It seems he had been troubled for some time past with gas pains in the region of the heart.

He was born at Rockford, Iowa, 59 years, 10 months and 13 days ago. He has had charge of the east Milwaukee section at Postville for five years past and was a good workman and a genial gentleman. His home was at Rudd, where his wife and family reside. He was a member of the Masonic fraternity, holding membership with the lodge at Nora Springs. Two sons and a daughter came yesterday noon in response to news of their father's death, and this morning on the early passenger the sorrowing children accompanied the body of their father home.

Postville Herald, Postville, Iowa, Thursday, July 1921.
