Jim Dean Jurrens – March 12, 1947 – February 9, 2012

In loving memory of Jim Dean Jurrens who passed away Feb. 9, 2012, at Texoma Medical Center in Denison, Texas.

Jim was born on March 12, 1947, to Madeline (Bigg) Jurrens and Robert Jurrens in Charles City, where he grew up. Jim served his country in the Army and was in Vietnam in 1968-1969. Upon his return, he met and married Marnie Waters in Colorado on Sept. 6, 1969. They later moved to Minnesota in 1972, where they had two children, Kendra and Jimy. In 1988, they moved to Texas and made Pottsboro their home. Jim retired from Blockbuster Warehouse in 2002 due to a terminal illness. He battled his illness until his death on Feb. 9, 2012. Jim’s world revolved around his two grandchildren, Farrin and Caston. In his retirement Jim enjoyed camping with Marnie and his grandchildren.

Survivors include his wife of 43 years, Marnie Jurrens; his children Kendra and Jimy; his grandchildren Farrin and Caston, all of Pottsboro, Texas; his sister and brother-in-law, Cherrie and Darrin Schiltz, and two nieces, Kimberly Schiltz, all of Albert Lea, Minn., and Amanda Schiltz, of Royal Oak, Mich.; a sister-in-law, Sue Jurrens (Skeet), of Mexico; a niece, Alicia (Mike) Tobin, and a nephew, Chris Jurrens, of Iowa; brother-in-law and sister-in-law Bill and Beth Waters, of Canon City, Colo.; and special friends Johnny Walker of Texas and Darrell and Jenny Ross, of Charles City.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Kenneth and Madeline Simmons and Robert Jurrens; as well as his brother Skeet Jurrens.

Jim lived a full and happy life full of achievements. He will be greatly missed by all of his family and many friends. The family held a private memorial service in Texas.
