Rites Held for Ed Folkerts, 67

Ed Folkerts, 67, Floyd County auditor, passed away Wednesday, while enroute from the Mitchell County Memorial Hospital in Osage to Rochester, Minnesota. He had been in failing health for several months.

He was born December 29, 1900, at Wellsburg, the son of Atho and Johanna Voss Folkerts. He married Elsie Hurd of Greene on March 1, 1928, at the Little Brown Church.

Mr. Folkers was appointed to the unexpired term of Harold Friedrich, former Floyd County Auditor, on February 15, 1960, and has continued in that office until his death. He also owned Folkerts Printing Inc. in Charles City.

Mr. and Mrs. Folkerts resided on a farm 0 miles northwest of Charles City.

Survivors include his wife; one son, Dale on Rudd; two daughters, Mrs. Philllp (Evelyn) Crabtree, of Cincinnati, Ohio, and Mrs. W.J. (Sharon) Pariott, of Spirit Lake; seven grandchildren; his mother, Mrs. Hanna Folkerts, of Aplinton; four brothers, George of Greene, Minno, of Bristow, Henry of Phoenix, Arizona, and Harold, of Allison; and three sisters, Mrs. Gertie Eberling, of Bristow, Mrs. W.J. Best, of Aplington, and Mrs. Kate Jungling, of Clarksville.

His father; a son, Dean, who was killed in a motorcycle accident June 6, 1949, and two brothers preceded him in death.

Funeral services were held Saturday, May 25th, at 10:00 o'clock a.m. at the Rudd Methodist Church with Rev. R. Roland Ritter of the First Methodist Church in Charles City, officiating. Burial was held in the Evergreen Cemetery at Rudd.
