Linda M. Schlader, 54, of Rockford, Iowa, passed away April 24, 2013 at the Muse Norris Hospice Center in Mason City, Iowa, surrounded by her family.

Visitation will be held Sunday, April 28, from 4-7 p.m. at the Nora Springs Community Center in Nora Springs, Iowa. A celebration of life and inurnment, with family, will be held at a later date at Owen’s Grove Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to the Shriners Children’s Hospital directed to the Linda Schlader memorial fund; send to El Kahir Shrine at 1400 Blairs Ferry Road, Cedar Rapids, IA, 50402. Checks should be made out to Shriners Hospital for Children in care of Roger Donegan.

Linda was born April 11, 1959, in Mason City, Iowa, to Derald and Leona (Dow) Hoel. She was welcomed home by three brothers, Ron, Randy and Gary. She grew up in Nora Springs, where she attended school.

Linda was united in marriage to Steve Schlader on January 10, 2006, and they resided on their farm outside of Rockford. She worked for many years at the Best Western/Bennigans in Clear Lake and was a very loyal employee.

Linda loved spending time with family, especially her grandchildren, Paige, Cayle and Callen. She also enjoyed gardening and tending to her flowers on the farm, entertaining family, playing cards with friends and traveling with her husband. She will be greatly missed by all that knew and loved her.

Linda’s family would like to sincerely thank Justyn Fox, who helped care for her and who became part of the family. We also want to thank all the nurses and staff at Mercy Medical Center and the Cancer Center of North Iowa in Mason City, the staff at Hospice of North Iowa, Dr. Lisa Kies, Father Kenneth Gehling, Pastors David and Kris Toyne, and Pastor Wendy Johannesen. Thank you to the management and staff of the Best Western/Bennigans in Clear Lake, and all of the many family and friends who have provided support, prayers and love. We truly appreciate all your help and generosity.

Linda is survived by her husband, Steve Schlader, of Rockford, Iowa; daughter, Holly (Jason) Ott, of Mason City; stepdaughters, Gretchen (Jeremy) Shuler, of Dubuque, Iowa; Heidi (Jesse) Mc-Mullen, of Humble, Texas; grandchildren, Paige and Cayle Ott, of Mason City, and Callen Shuler, of Dubuque, Iowa; parents, Derald and Leona Hoel, of Nora Springs; brothers, Ron (Margaret) Hoel, of Nora Springs; Randy (Ann) Hoel, of Mason City, and Gary Hoel, of Nora Springs; grandmother, Vivian Hoel, of Cloquet, Minnesota; father and mother-in-law, Jerome and Lenore Schlader, of Rockford; brothers and sisters-in-laws, Mike (Margaret) Schlader, of Rockford; Jerry (Karen) Schlader, of Rockford, and Mary Kay Schlader (friend Dennis Fulk), of Rockford, and many aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces and nephews.
