Henry Harry Dight – May 19, 1864 – February 7, 1942

HENRY DIGHT’S SERVICES HELD
AGED RESIDENT OF CITY, NATIVE OF ENGLAND, IS DEAD

Charles City – Funeral services were held here at 2 p.m. Monday for Henry Dight, 77, who died at the home of son in Ulster Township near here Saturday morning after a short illness.

Mr. Dight was formerly a resident of Clarion and moved to a farm near here 22 years ago. The Dights observed their 56th wedding anniversary last May. His death marked the first break in four generations.

Survivors besides the widow are the son, Thomas, who lives on a farm nine miles west of here near Rockford, a grandson, Howard, and two great-grandsons.

Mr. Dight was born in England as was his wife, who was the former Florence Doble. They lived in Schenectady, New York, when they first came to the United States and Mr. Dight was associated with the American Locomotive Company. They had also lived in Illinois previous to their removal to Iowa.

Services were held at Grossman’s Chapel in charge of the Rev. Sterling Baldwin of Rudd and burial was made in Oakwood Cemetery at Floyd.
