Caroline “Lena” (Niemann) Lillick – September 21, 1867 – July 24, 1948

Mrs. John G. Lillick, 80, died Saturday evening at 10:10 at the Cedar Valley Hospital after being a patient there 16 days. Mrs. Lillick was a former resident of the Bassett community and is the mother of Mrs. Milan George of Nashua.

She was born September 21, 1867 in Chicago, Illinois, the daughter of Henry Niemann and Catherine Meyer. She was married to Mr. Lillick on April 28, 1898, in Chickasaw County where the couple lived 46 years.

Four children were born to this union. A daughter, Elsie, died in infancy.

Mrs. Lillick was a member of St. John’s Lutheran Church and the Lutheran Ladies Aid Society. She was baptized and confirmed in the Lutheran faith.

Survivors include her husband, and two daughters; Mrs. George Ross of Charles City; and Mrs. Milan George of Nashua; a son, Albert of Ionia; and eight grandchildren and a great-grandchild.

Funeral services were held Wednesday at 2:00 p.m. at Grossmann’s Funeral Chapel with the Rev. Carl Buss of Rockford officiating. Burial was made in Riverside Cemetery at Charles City.
