Clarence Edward “Jess” Jespersen – June 12, 1917 – September 2, 2005

Clarence Edward “Jess” Jespersen was born in Litchfield, Michigan on June 12, 1917, the son of Dr. Edward and Martha (Jorgensen) Jespersen. He moved to Wisconsin with his family and graduated from High School in Waukesha, Wisconsin. Jess enlisted in the U.S. Army Air Corp the day after the attack on Pearl Harbor in 1941.

He served his country for seven years, being honorably discharged as a staff Sergeant with numerous medals and commendations.

He was united in marriage to Ruth Elaine Pyle on March 2, 1947, in Carson City, Nevada. To this union one son, David was born. Following his discharge, they moved to Nashua. Jess started a portable milling business and ground feed for area farmers for the next 20 years. In 1968, he became the Products and Distribution Manager for Farm Service CO-OP in Charles city, retiring in 1988.

Jess was a member of Nashua United Methodist Church and Nashua V.F.W. He enjoyed taking trips in his motor home, woodworking, hunting and just being outdoors.

He is survived by his wife, Ruth Elaine Jespersen of Nashua; one son, David Jespersen of Rockford; three grandchildren; Sean (Jen) Jespersen of Ontario, Oregon; Scott (Jill) Jespersen of Coralville; and Megan Jespersen of Charles City; four great-grandchildren; Sloane & Jakob Jespersen; and Christian & Norah Jespersen; one sister; Ruth Ella Reck of Muskegon, Michigan. Jess was preceded in death by his parents, Dr. Edward and Martha Jespersen.
