Date Of Death: March 28, 2013Paul Field, 98, of Charles City, died Thursday, March 28, 2013, at his home in rural Charles City.
A funeral Mass for Paul Field will be held 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church. Monsignor Stanley Hayek will celebrate the Mass. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery at Charles City. There will be a flag presentation by the Charles City Ceremonial Unit.
Friends may call at the Hauser Funeral Home from 5 to 8 p.m. Monday where there will be a Rosary at 5 p.m. led by the family, and a Scriptural Prayer Service at 7 p.m.
Paul Felber Field was born July 30, 1914, at Glendive, Montana., the son of Lewis and Emma (Felber) Field. He graduated from Hawarden High School in 1933, Morningside College in 1937 and University of Iowa in 1942. He proudly served in the United States Navy during World War II as Chief Pharmacist's Mate. On July 4, 1951, he was united in marriage to Irene Snyder. Paul owned and operated Field Drug for almost 20 years. He was a member of Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, Knights of Columbus and V.F.W. Family was always important to Paul and he took every opportunity to share in their lives. Paul will be remembered for his devotion to the Catholic Church.
Living family members include his wife of 62 years, Irene Field of Charles City; five children, Paula (Doug) Molin of Martinsville, Ind., Jeff (Ruth) Field of Floyd, Jon (Heather) Field, Joseph (Kirsten) Field and Jay (Laurie) Field all of Charles City; 28 grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; brother-in-law, Charles Bonavia of Waverly; sister-in-law, Marian Snyder of Charles City; and a daughter-in-law, Lisa Field of Farmington Hills, Mich.
He was preceded in death by his parents; son, James Field; and three sisters, Margaret Black, Jean Bonavia and Lois Roewe.
