Funeral services for Hildegard Ennen will be held 10:30 a.m. Monday at Saint John Evangelical Lutheran Church. Pastor Dennis Niezwaag will officiate. Burial will be in Riverside Cemetery at Charles City.
Friends may call at the Hauser Funeral Home from 3 to 6 p.m. Sunday and Monday at the church an hour prior to the service.
Hildegard Martha Glomsda Ennen was born May 25, 1922, at Herzogskirchen, Germany, the daughter of Paul and Martha (Joswig) Glomsda. She received her education in Germany, attending trade school for retail clothing.
On October 17, 1948, she was united in marriage to Friedrich Ennen in Germany. They came to the United States in 1952 making their home in Greene and moving to Charles City in 1969. Over the years Hildegard worked at Red Owl and Saxony. Hildegard was a member of Saint John Evangelical Lutheran Church and was a part of various activities of the church, Moose Lodge, YMCA and German Club.
She enjoyed flower and vegetable gardening, playing cards with her friends, was an excellent seamstress and relished preparing German food. Hildegard will be remembered for her devotion to her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Living family members include six children, Monika (Robert) Teeple of Greene, Erika (Thomas) Ennen of Oro Valley, Arizona, Jurgen (Marlene) Ennen of Homestead, Werner (Marian) Ennen of Eau Claire, Wiscconsin, and Manfred (Kathy) Ennen of Raymond; 10 grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; and two brothers and a sister in Germany.
She was preceded in death by her parents; and a brother, Oswald Glomsda.
