Margaret M. Cero 1930-2013

Margaret Mae Cero, 82 of Charles City passed away on Friday March 16, 2013, at her home in Charles City. A memorial service was held on Tuesday, March 19, 2013, at 10:30 a.m. at the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Charles City with Father Carl Ries officiating.

Iowa Cremation is assisting the family.

Margaret Mae DeBettignies was born on April 7, 1930, to John and Margaret DeBettignies. She was united in marriage to William (Bill) Cero on Aug. 3, 1950, at Saint Joseph Catholic Church in New Hampton. In 1960, Margaret began working for Belmond Manufacturing in Charles City. She was employed as a CNA for 9th Street Chautauqua Nursing Home from 1983 to 1993 and later went to work as an in home health care provider. Margaret spent many hours providing care to others in the community.

Although she enjoyed working outside her home, her greatest joy was spending time with her family. Margaret “Girlie” thoroughly enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

She was a longtime member of the Immaculate Conception Church in Charles City. She was easy to please and enjoyed the simple things in life.
She is survived by her children; Mila (Lyle) Bunston, John (Mary) Cero, both of Humboldt; Diane Bilharz of Nashua; Lori Cero and James Cero, both of Charles City; grandchildren; Brandon Bunston (Meghan Smidt), Abby (Kyle) Greenlee, Steven (Briana) Cero, Katie Davis(Jeff Feaster),Christine (Frank) Valenzuela, Michelle (Paul) Jones, Michael (Tabitha) Caswell, Cody Bilharz, Maggie Hoy and Amy(Wes) Waechter; and 14 great-grandchildren. She is also survived by a sister, Arlene VanKleek of Denver, Colorado.

Margaret was preceded in death by her husband William Cero, parents, siblings, and grandson Jesse William Cero in 2006.
