Nora Springs, Iowa — Ruth Ann Hamer, 60, of Nora Springs died Sunday, March 24, 2013 at her home in Nora Springs.

Nora Springs, Iowa — Ruth Ann Hamer, 60, of Nora Springs, died Sunday, March 24, 2013, at her home in Nora Springs.

A celebration of life service will be held at 1:30 p.m., Thursday, March 28, 2013, at Saint Luke’s Lutheran Chuch, 101 N. Hawkeye Ave., Nora Springs, with Pastor Joel Dahlen officiating. The family will greet friends one hour prior to the service on Thursday at the church.

Should friends desire, memorials may be left to the Ruth Hamer Memorial Fund in care of her family.

Ruth A. Hamer, daughter of Carl and Ivadel Johnson Mumford, was born October 6, 1952, in Little Falls, Minnesota. Ruth attended school in Lorenz, Iowa.

Ruth was united in marriage to Bob Hamer on July 19, 1980 in Hampton, Iowa. They first lived in Hampton for seven years before moving to Nora Springs where she first started working at Casey’s in Nora Springs. Shortly thereafter, she worked for Alexander Batteries and continued her working career at FRC, manufacturing aircraft component parts before she retired in 2005.

She loved stitch crafting, NASCAR and playing on the computer. She enjoyed camping and being social with family and friends. Ruth loved all of her grandchildren dearly, was raising Harley Merry and Nancy England. She was a great friend and listener, would help anyone in need.

Ruth was a member of St. Luke’s Lutheran Church in Nora Spring.

She will be missed by her husband, Bob Hamer, Nora Springs; three children, Stephenie Merry, Rowan, Andrew Schreier, Iowa Falls, Robin Bell, Rowan; five grandchildren, two great-grandchildren; sisters, Karolyn Wiseman, Rolfe, Iowa, and Violet (Art) Lovig, Marathon, Iowa; brothers, Roger Mumford, Rowan, Iowa, and Earl (Karen) Mumford, Colorado; mother-in-law, Marcedes Hamer, Stewartville, Minn.; brother-in-law, Larry (Linda) Hamer, Lemars, Iowa, Roger (Diane) Hamer, Salem, Mo.; sister-in-law, Roxann (Tom) Neumann, Plainview, Minn., and special friends, Shawn and Jackie Uker and their two boys.

She was preceded in death by her parents, one sister, Nancy Wilson; two brothers, Harold Mumford and Lester Mumford; father-in-law, Howard Hamer along with many nieces, nephews, and cousins.
