FORMER OSAGE MAN DIED;
RITES HEREFuneral rites were held Saturday for John McFarland, 99, a former resident of the Osage area, who died December 31, 1980, at a nursing home in Cedar Falls. Rev. G. Hope, pastor of the Baptist Church, was in charge of the rites at the Champion Funeral Home, and burial was in the Osage Cemetery.
John McFarland was born in Nebraska on October 12, 1881, the son of George Washington and Elizabeth Eads McFarland, one of 12 children in the family. He engaged in farming west of Osage until moving to Missouri in 1932.
Surviving are two daughters, Nadine Steward of Dubuque and Elizabeth Houdek of Waterloo; two sons, Corbie McFarland of Austin and Noble McFarland of Exeland, Wisconsin; many grandchildren and great-grandchildren, nephews and nieces.
Preceding him in death were one son, Gar, his parents and 11 brothers and sisters.
