Charles Thomas Rex – December 26, 1864 – June 23, 1944

HOLD REX RITES AT MARBLE ROCK
BARBER OVER 40 YEARS DIES; ILL LONG TIME

Charles City -- Funeral services were to be held Monday afternoon at 2:30 o’clock at the Christian Church in Marble Rock, for Charles t. Rex, 79, who died at his home in Marble Rock, late Friday evening after a short illness. The Hauser Funeral Home of Charles City was to be in charge of services. Masonic services were to be held at the Hillside Cemetery at Marble Rock.

Mr. Rex had been in failing health for the past year. He had lived in Marble Rock all his life being a barber there for 40 years. He was a member of the Christian Church. He also was a member of the Masonic Lodge.

Charles Thomas Rex was born to Samuel and Mary Jane Ackley Rex, December 26, 1864 at Marble Rock. He grew to manhood in the Marble Rock community and was married to Esther Manchester at Marble Rock.

To this union were born 3 children; Mrs. Blanche Clay, Wilmar, California Carl Rex, Floyd; and one daughter; Mrs. Alta Sharp, who died in 1923.
Mrs. Rex died during the flu epidemic.
On June 14, 1920, he was married to Sophia Fulkerson Richman, at Marble Rock. His wife, 2 children and one brother; Clyde Rex, Ellsworth, survive. There are 7 grandchildren.
