JACOB A REX PASSES AWAY

Jacob A Rex, sixth child of a family of ten children, son of Rudolph and Mary Ann Rex, was born September 17, 1841 in Summit County, Ohio, where his childhood days were spent, coming with his parents to Marble Rock in the year 1856, then a boy of 15. He grew to manhood in this locality. A few remaining will remember him as an active person in the local sports and activities of what was then called the West.

In the year 1863 he married Miss Dorothy Beelar and took upon himself the responsibilities of a home. Two daughters and three sons were born in Iowa.

In 1876 the family moved to Washington, purchasing a ranch near the Sound. There, two sons and two daughters were added to the family circle who were well cared for in his pioneer struggle, being ever thoughtful for those about him.

He will be remembers as a good neighbor, a kind husband and an over indulgent father. He was left a widower by the death of his wife about 11 years ago. He came East during the summer of 1915. During his stay here he made the confession of faith, was immersed and united with the church of Christ.

On January the 31st, 1914 he married Mary Jane Rex, going from here to Washington where they spent a few months, afterward returning to Marble Rock, where he passed away the morning of February 12, 1921 at the age of 79 years 4 months and 25 days, leaving the faithful partner of the declining years, two sisters; Mrs. Louisa Clay and Mrs. Eizabeth Wagner, of Marble Rock; one brother; Rudolph Rex, of Big Ford, Montana; also children and nineteen grand-children in Washington The funeral was held at the home Monday afternoon and was in charge of Rev. Hess of Charles City. Beautiful selections were sung.
The pall-bearers were chosen from among his nephews. The body was laid to rest in the west side cemetery beside his father and mother.
