Nora Springs — Dale Edward Moe, 57, of rural Nora Springs and formerly of Northwood, died on Friday, March 8, 2013, at Mercy Medical Center-North Iowa in Mason City.

A funeral Mass for Dale will be held on 10:30 a.m. Thursday, March 14, 2013, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Manly, Iowa, with the Reverend John Gossman officiating. Burial will be in the Calvary Cemetery in Charles City.

There will be a visitation from 3:30 p.m. until 7 p.m. on Wednesday with a parish Rosary at 3:30 p.m. and a scriptural wake service at 6:30 p.m. at the Conner Colonial Chapel, 1008 First Ave. South, Northwood.

Dale Edward Moe was born on April 11, 1955, the son of Marvin and Luella (Jordan) Moe. He grew up with his family in Austin, Minn., and moved to St. Ansgar prior to his junior year of high school. He graduated in 1973 from St. Ansgar High School. Dale also graduated from North Iowa Area Community College.

While growing up in Austin, Dale helped his grandfather, George Jordan, on the family farm in rural St. Ansgar, and after his grandfather’s death, Dale took over the farming operations until 1985.

Dale married Jennifer Irons on September 1, 1984, in St. Ansgar, Iowa, at Immanuel Lutheran Church.

Dale was an avid bicycle rider, vehicle mechanic, talented in many aspects of life and always happy to help those in need. He was a loving husband, father, recently became a proud grandfather and had many dear friends. Dale was a great mechanic, and throughout his life he worked for Bruesewitz Motors in Grafton, was the service manager for Northwood Motors and Lake Chevrolet, and managed Auto Glass Center in Mason City. Dale most recently was employed as lead mechanic and transit supervisor at North Iowa Area Council of Governments in Mason City, Iowa.

After residing in Northwood for 24 years, Dale and Jennifer purchased a rural home north of Nora Springs in early 2012. Dale spent a good share of his spare time fixing up their new property to make a perfect home to share the rest of their lives.

Dale enjoyed riding on RAGBRAI numerous times, as well as other bicycle rides, and was vice president of the North Iowa Touring Club.

He was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church, former member and past president of the Board of Education and CCD teacher in Manly.

Left to cherish Dale’s memory are his wife, Jennifer, of Nora Springs; son Christopher Moe and special friend Adriana Chavez of Grimes, Iowa; his daughter, Kayla Moe and special friend, Justin Betts, Mason City; six- week-old granddaughter, Allorie Betts, Mason City; father, Marvin Moe, Austin, Minn.; sister, Cynthia Frank and her husband Ed, Dexter, Minn.; brother, Dennis Moe and his wife Lee, Farmington, Minn.; brother, Alan Moe and his wife Kim, Savage, Minn.; sister-in-law, Michelle Etter and her husband Fred, Charles City; and father-in-law Charles Irons, Charles City, Iowa, and many extended family members and friends.

Dale was preceded in death by his mother, Luella Moe; mother-in-law, Elaine Irons; and his paternal and maternal grandparents.
