CHARLES CITY, IOWA — Irma Hamm, 78, of Charles City, died Tuesday, March 5, 2013, at Cedar Health in Charles City.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday, March 9, at Immaculate Conception Church in Charles City. The Rev. Carl Ries will celebrate the Mass. Burial will be in Riverside Cemetery, Charles City.
Friends may call from 4 to 7 p.m. Friday at the Hauser Funeral Home, with a 4 p.m. rosary and a 6:30 p.m. Scripture service. Visitation will resume an hour prior to the funeral mass at the church.
The Hauser Funeral Home, 641-228-2323, in Charles City, is in charge of arrangements.

Irma Jean Halfman Hamm was born March 6, 1934 in Stacyville, the daughter of George and Helen (Hartogh) Halfman. She attended and graduated from Visitation School in Stacyville. After completing her education, she worked as a nanny for many families in the Stacyville area.
On January 2, 1957, she was united in marriage to Leonard Hamm in Charles City. To this union ten children were born. Over the years Irma worked as a Certified Nurse's Aide at the Cedar Valley Hospital and the Floyd County Memorial Hospital. She enjoyed traveling, shopping, crocheting, going to church, socializing with friends, playing cards, cooking, and spending time with her family, especially on the holidays. She enjoyed being a Foster Grandparent for nine years. Irma was a member of Immaculate Conception Church and St. Mary's Circle, where she served as secretery.
Living family members include her children, Jean (Jeff) Weigel of Charles City, Sandra (Dennis) Mandt of Charles City, Connie (William Jr.) Garrison of Breman, Ala., Rhonda (Tom) Balkenende, of Mason City, Brenda (Brian) Frahm of Charles City, Sheila (Mike) Ryan of Charles City, Rodney Hamm of Westbrook, Conn., Terry Hamm of Charles City, Lori (Nathan) Ensign of Charles City, and Craig (Nicole) Hamm of Charles City; 30 grandchildren; 26 great-grandchildren; and siblings, James Halfman of Byron, Minn., Theresa Minard of LaPorte City, and Kathleen (Dennis) Borchardt of Mason City.
Irma was preceded in death by her parents; husband Leonard; a grandson, Darryl Griffen, Jr.; a great granddaughter, Evelyne Knapp; and siblings George Halfman, Jr., Vera Walsh, and Mary Ann Popp.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to the family.
