LOVELAND, COLORADO — Jerry Dean Haller passed away Saturday, Dec. 29, 2012, at the Pathways Inpatient Hospice, Loveland, after a year-long battle with cancer. He was 56.

Jerry was born in Charles City on September 18, 1956, to Arnold E. and Arlene B. (Mitchell) Haller. He graduated from Rockford Senior High, in Rockford. He obtained his Bachelor’s Degree from the University of Northern Iowa. He was an Eagle Scout and served as scout leader in Iowa. He married Sandy Jorgensen in 1980; they later divorced. He married Deborah Monette in 2007.

Jerry had a long career in the lumber and home improvement business which began at his father’s lumber yard in Marble Rock. He moved to Colorado in 1983 to begin a career at Collins Cashway Lumber. He was later employed at McKlveen Lumber in Newton. Deines Lumber, and most recently, Lowe’s in Loveland since the store’s opening. Jerry always had a smile on his face and was a kindhearted man who was so very proud of his kids. He enjoyed the Broncos, the Iowa Hawkeyes, Benson Sculpture Park, pheasant hunting, hot air ballooning and road trips. Jerry valued his colleagues and friends at Lowe’s. He was a previous member of the Thompson Valley Rotary Club.

Jerry is survived by his children, Patrick Haller, of Fort Collins, Colo., and Jamie, of Boulder, Colo.; wife Deborah Monette and stepson Bernie Monette, of Loveland; his father, Arnold Haller, of Charles City; a sister Marcia Kogle and her husband, Mark, of Puyallup, Wash., and a brother, Dennis Haller, and his wife, Janet, of Decorah, Iowa and their families; and sister-in-law Diana Geiger, of Loveland. He was preceded in death by his mother, Arlene Haller.

A celebration of Jerry’s life will be held on Jan. 10 at Viegut Funeral Home, in Loveland, at 10:30 a.m. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Jerry Haller Memorial Fund in care of Viegut Funeral Home, Loveland, Colo. or to the Winnebago Scout Reservation fund (checks payable to INHF) Iowa Natural Heritage Foundation, 505 5th Ave STE 444, Des Moines, IA 50309-9894.
