CHARLES CITY, IOWA - Phyllis Schrock, 89, of Charles City, died Thursday, November 29, 2012, at her home.
A funeral Mass will be held at 2:30 p.m. Wednesday at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church. The Rev. Carl Ries will officiate. Inurnment will be in Calvary Cemetery, Charles City.
Friends may call at the Hauser Funeral Home from 6 to 8 p.m. today, where there will be a Scriptural Wake Service at 6 p.m. Visitation will continue Wednesday at the church an hour prior to the service.
The Hauser Funeral Home, 641-228-2323, in Charles City, is in charge of arrangements.

Phyllis Mary McSweeney Schrock was born August 16, 1923, in Osage, Iowa, the daughter of Stewart and Charlotte (McGrane) McSweeney. She graduated from Osage High School in 1940 where she participated in state tournament basketball and softball teams. Phyllis also graduated from Iowa School of Beauty Culture at Des Moines on February 8, 1943.
Phyllis worked for several years as a beautician. On January 29, 1971, she was united in marriage to Emil Schrock. She was a member of Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, V.F.W. Auxiliary, Women of the Moose, Charles City Bowling Association, and M & M Girls Birthday Club. Her interests included reading, bowling, working crossword puzzles, attending bowling tournaments, taking day trips and visiting with family and friends.
Living family members include a daughter, Donna (Steve) Smesrud of Davenport; two step daughters, Mary (Carl) Holvik of Johnston and Laura Cooper of Florida; a step son, Tim Schrock of Florida; three granddaughters, Carrie (Andrew) Blasi, Kirsten (Craig) Parrott and Karin (Kyle) Smith; a grandson, David (Emily) Smesrud; five step grandchildren; three great grandchildren with another on the way; a brother, Dick (Jean) McSweeney of Hampton; and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Emil "Pete" on August 22, 2000; a son, David Schmidt in 1970; four sisters, Helen and her husband Wayne Canny, "Sis" and her husband Walt Williams, Catherine McSweeney and Pat McSweeney; two brothers and their wives, Roland (Bernice) McSweeney and Bob (Maxine) McSweeney; and a sister-in-law, Jan McSweeney.
