Charles Howard Hennings

CHARLES CITY, IOWA - Charles Howard Hennings, son of William and Genevieve Hennings, 1214 North Grand Avenue, Charles City, was born at Horton, Iowa, November 29, 1917, and departed this life at the Cedar Valley Hospital, Charles City, on Wednesday morning, October 3, 1934.

He came to Charles City five years ago, where he attended the public schools until some time ago, when he joined the CCC camp, which is located at Cresco, Iowa. It was while spending a weekend at his home that he was on Saturday, September 15, badly hurt in an automobile accident and taken to the Cedar Valley Hospital, where he remained until the time of his death.

While a resident of Horton he united with the Baptist Church, where he always took an active part in the work of the church and has since that time lived a consistent Christian life. He was a most excellent young man, of clean habits, ever thoughtful and self denying by nature, which, with the added grace of a christian life, makes his passing difficult for his loved ones to bear.

He leaves to mourn his passing, his parents, four brothers, and one sister, besides other relatives and hosts of friends.

Funeral services were held with a short prayer service at his late home and a more extended service at the Grossmann Funeral Home in Charles City, Rev. G. A. Hess officiating, with interment at Riverside Cemetery.

[Special to the Democrat, October 1934]
