Charles “Wib” Cline, 94, of Austin, Minnesota, died Saturday, October 27, 2012, at his home in Austin.

Charles Wilbur Cline was born January 8, 1918, at Rockford, Iowa, the son of Alfred Henry and Jennie Grace (Allen) Cline. He was married to Estie Jones on September 11, 1937. “Wib” served in Japan with the U.S. Army during World War II. Charles worked as a truck driver with the Wonder Bread and the Holsum Bakeries. For the majority of his career, he drove a truck for Ankeny Dairy, and he was a gas hauler for the Ankeny family business. He also was the business agent for the Austin AFL-CIO office.

In 1981, Lucile North Cline moved to Austin. She has been his companion ever since. Charles was a member of the First United Methodist Church, a 65-year member of the American Legion and a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars. He was an avid sportsman and enjoyed playing softball, bowling, fishing and golfing.

He is survived by, Lu Cline, Austin; sons and daughters-in-law, Lyle and Sharon Cline, Austin, Fred and Sue Cline, Austin; daughter and son-in-law, Judy and George Bang, Kilkenny, Minn.; daughter-in-law, Judy (Lindeman) Cline, Tracy, Calif.; stepchildren, Barbara and Martin Kramer, Algona, Iowa, Barry and Liz Cline, Clinton, Arizona, Beth and Les Parker, Ionia, Iowa; 11 grandchildren, 26 great-grandchildren, 12 step-grandchildren and 14 step-great-grandchildren.

Charles was preceded in death by his wife, Estie Jones Cline; parents; two brothers; a sister; son Chuck Cline; and grandson, Rick Cline.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, October 31, 2012, at First United Methodist Church with the Rev. Marilee A. Benson officiating. Interment will be in Grandview Cemetery with Austin Post No. 91 American Legion and Olaf B. Damm Post No. 1216 Veterans of Foreign Wars in charge of military rites. Visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m. Tuesday at Clasen-Jordan Mortuary and at the church for one hour before the service on Wednesday morning.

Honorary casket bearer will be his best friend Bernard McGee. Casket bearers will be grandchildren Tammy Rysavy, Jackie Carr, Jennifer Ruhnke, Mike Cline, Eric Haney Ryan Cline and Nate Cline.
