CONDUCTOR AT MANLY IS DEAD
ERNEST D. TURNER WILL BE BURIED AT ROCKFORD WEDNESDAY

Manly – Ernest D. Turner, 58, Rock Island Railway conductor, died Sunday afternoon at 5:45 o’clock as the result of a stroke which he suffered Thursday evening.

Funeral services will be held at 1 o’clock Wednesday at the residence and 1:30 at the Bethel Evangelical Church, the Rev. F.R. Blakely in charge. The body will be taken to Rockford for services there at 3:30 with interment at Rockford.

Mr. Turner had been in good health until Thursday, having mowed his lawn made garden and assisted in the moving of his garage that day.

He was born at Rockford on January 13, 1879, and was employed with the Rock Island Railroad since he was a young man, first as a brakeman and later as a conductor.

He was married to Daisy Hynds of Cedar Rapids, sister of Dr. J. Hynds of Mason City, in 1908. They located in Manly shortly after their marriage and have lived here ever since.

Mr. Turner is survived by his widow and on son, Robert, 15.

He was a member of the Order of Railway Conductors and a charter member of the Railway Trainmen in Manly. He was also affiliated with the Masonic Lodge in Manly.

Ernest Turner was born January 13, 1879 in Rockford, Floyd County, Iowa, the son of Elmer Turner and Marhon (Davis) Turner. His mother died December 14, 1889 and was buried in the Riverside Cemetery, Rockford, Floyd, Iowa.

He married Daisy Hynds, the daughter of Ephriam Hynds and Alice (McCain) Hynds.
