Darlene (Baker) Renner – September 10, 1906 – November 15, 2002

DARLENE B. RENNER

MASON CITY - Darlene B. Renner was born Sept. 10, 1906, at Lebanon, Kan., to Walter and Maude (Shimer) Baker. She graduated from Nora Springs High School and Hamilton Business College.

On Sept. 10, 1927, she married Erich W. Renner at the Little Brown Church in Nashua.

Darlene worked as secretary and bookkeeper for Cadwell Storage and Moving Co. for many years. She was a member of the First Congregational Church in Mason City and also a member of the Retired Senior Volunteer Program and the North Iowa Medical Center Community Organization. She also enjoyed playing bridge with her friends and spending time with her family.

Survivors include a son, Kurt Renner and wife, Jan, of Mason City, and a daughter, Marcia Jensen and her husband, Arne, of Cedar Falls. She is also survived by three grandchildren, four great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild. She was preceded in death by her husband, Erich; her parents; five sisters, and three brothers.

She donated her body to University of Iowa Medical Center for research. At her request, there will be no funeral or memorial services.

Note* She seems to be the only child of Walter and Maude who was born in Kansas, all the other children before and after her were born in Floyd County, Iowa. (as per the 1900, 1910-1920-1930 Census Records)
