Maude (Shimer) Baker – August 9, 1877 – May 7, 1947

Maude Baker was born August 9, 1877 in Knox Co., Ohio to Jacob and Lovina Shimer. As a young girl she moved with her family from Ohio to Nora Springs,IA.

She was married to Walter S. Baker July 13, 1895 at Nora Springs.

Maude and Walter were parents of 10 children; Lenore; Clarence, Lyrle, Blanche, Dorothy, Darlene, Mary, Orville and Wayne. The children were born while in Nora Springs and later on Maude and Walter moved to Mason City.

Funeral services were held at The Chapel of the McAuley and son funeral home with Rev. Carl J. Sentman of Radio Chapel officiating.
The Rev. and Mrs.Sentman sang "Does Jesus Care?" and "God Understands" Mrs. Grace Ehlers accompanied at the organ.

Doris Straube and Phyllis Bloomimgdale were in charge of flowers.

Attending from out of town were Mr. and Mrs. Kenneth Allen and family, Mr and Mrs. Lloyd Kriz, and Mr. and Mrs. Darrell Allen of New Hampton; Mr. and Mrs. Bob Straube and Mrs. Bessie Crowell of Rudd; Mr. and Mrs. Ora Morphew and Mrs Roy Baker, Nora Springs; and Mrs Walter Baker. Waterloo.

Pallbearers were Robert Straube, Gerald Bloomimgdale, Darrell Allen and Lloyd Kriz. Burial was in Park Cemetery.

McAuley and Son Funeral Home was in charge.
