W. S. BAKER, 77, DIES IN HOSPITAL

Funeral Rites to Be Saturday Afternoon

Funeral services for Walter S. Baker, 77, of 537 3rd N.E., who died at a hospital Thursday evening, following an illness, will be held at the Major Memorial chapel Saturday at 2:30 p.m., with the Rev. Carl J. Sentman of Radio chapel officiating.

Mr. Baker was born Oct. 15, 1869, at Milwood, Ohio. He came to Mason City in 1870 and farmed in this vicinity until 1940, when he retired. He made his home in Mason City for the past 7 years.

Surviving are his wife, Maude (Shimer) Baker; 2 sons, Walter Baker of Waterloo, Iowa, and Clair Baker of Nora Springs, and 6 daughters, Mrs. Gerald Bloomingdale and Mrs. Erich Renner, Mason City; Mrs. Blanche Combs, Los Angeles, Cal.; Mrs. Gerald Trimble, Austin, Minn.; Mrs. Arthur Straube, Rudd; and Mrs. Kenneth Allen, New Hampton; and 2 sisters, Mrs. Ella Babcock, Miss Sadie Baker, Mason City; and 35 grandchildren and 2 great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by one son, Wayne Baker.

Interment will be at Memorial Park cemetery. The Major Funeral Home in charge.
