IONIA, IOWA — Dick “Dickie” Ray Meyer, 69, of Ionia, died Monday, October 8, at Floyd County Memorial Hospital in Charles City.

He was born March 8, 1943, in Charles City, son of Clarence and Marion Green Meyer. He married Cheryl Mulnix in La Crosse, Wisconsin.

He graduated from Charles City High School in 1961. Mr. Meyer worked at Oliver, and at Mike’s C&O Tire in Charles City for 25 years. He also worked for Allied Redi-Mix until retirement.

He is survived by his wife; two daughters, Tammy (Mark) Laehn of Reasnor and Melissa (Brian) Boess of Hawkeye; a son, Scott (Amy) of Otley; nine grandchildren, Stephanie and Kayla Thorne, Joshua and Sarah Meyer, Mercedes and Jessica Boess, and Casey, Emily and Nathan Laehn; three great-grandchildren, Tyler Sizemore, and Ivy and Ki Boyd; a sister, Dixie Baume of Prescott, Ariz.; and three nieces.

He was preceded in death by a brother-in-law, Thomas Baume.

A celebration of life will be held from 1 to 3 p.m. Saturday, November 3, 2012 at Downtown Country Civic Center, Ionia.

Dick was an avid NASCAR and NHRA fan. He enjoyed car racing, truck and tractor pulls, playing cards, yard games, the outdoors and socializing with family and friends.
