Hilda A. Goodsell, 75, of Elgin, Illinois, died on Monday, December 2, 1991, at Sherman Hospital in Elgin.

Funeral services were held on Thursday, December 6, 1991, at First Congregational Church, Elgin. Burial was private.

Mrs. Goodsell was born on August 2, 1916, west of Rockford, Iowa, the daughter of Harm and Hilda (Siebrandts) deBuhr. She attended rural schools and was graduated from Rockford High School in 1933. She taught in rural Floyd County schools. On June 22, 1937 she married Robert J. Goodsell, editor/publisher of the Nashua Reporter in Nashua, Iowa. Later the couple moved to Elgin, Illinois.

She lived in Elgin for 44 years and was a member of First Congregational Church, in Elgin. She was a board member of the YWCA, helped found and was volunteer manager of the Y's Buys Seconds Store for 22 years. She was a member of the education committee of Fox Valley Mental Health Clinic.

Survivors include a daughter, Mrs. Paul (Linda) Bergh of Minnesota; a son, Gregory and his wife Kathleen, of California; three granddaughters, Amanda and Angela Goodsell, both of California, and Kirsten Bergh of Minnesota; two sisters, Else Uker of Rudd and Marie Bequette of Mason City; and two brothers, Alfred of Mason City, and Bernard of Rockford.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Robert in 1989, and five brothers, Herman, Theodore, Gerhard, John, and William.
