George J. Flessner, 91, of Hampton and formerly of Rockford, Iowa, died Thursday, October 17, 1991, at the Hampton Health Care Center in Hampton.

Funeral services were held on Monday, October 21, 1991, at Zion Lutheran Church in Rockford, with Pastor J. Albrecht officiating. Burial was in the Riverside Cemetery in Rockford. Schumburg Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.

George J. Flessner was born on April 2, 1900, in Aurich, Germany, the son of Johann and Fentke Dierks Flessner. He came tot he Aplington area in 1924. On November 2, 1928, he married Anna Buenting in Webster City. He was a member of St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Hampton.

Living family members include his wife, Anna of Hampton; three daughters and their husbands: Fannie M. (Mrs. Don) Rover of Hampton; Eilene (Mrs. Don) Ender of Cedar Falls; and JoAnn (Mrs. Duane) Feltz of Harlan; two sons and their wives, Henry and Judy Flessner of Ord, Nebraska, and Arnold and Jeane Flessner of Waverly; 15 grandchildren; and 19 great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, one son, one brother, and one grandson.
