GILLSBECK, BELL, PENNINGTON

Edward Gillsbeck was born near Glen Haven, Wisconsin, on January 13, 1869, and passed away at his home near Bassett, Iowa, February 25, 1931, at 5:30 a.m. at the age of 62 years, 1 month and 12 days.

When he was 12 years old he came with his parents to Iowa and settled near Charles City, later moving to the farm near Bassett where he lived with his parents until September 11, 1895, when he was united in marriage to Martha Myrtle Bell.

He started in the occupation of farming, living on a farm north of Bassett until two years after his marriage when he moved to the farm where he was living at the time of his death.

To this union two children were born. One daughter, Mrs. Guy Pennington preceded him in death on August 11, 1926. Those left to mourn his loss are his widow and one daughter, Mrs. Dewey Pennington. Also one sister, Mrs. John Frazee, one brother, George and one grandchild, Gordon Rex Pennington and a host of friends and neighbors.

He was a member of the Modern Woodman camp at Bassett and was always active in all community enterprises. His loss will be keenly felt by all who knew him.

Funeral services were conducted Friday at 2:00 o'clock at the First Christian Church in Charles City, Rev. G. A. Hess officiating and interment was made in Riverside Cemetery.
