Michael A. Auchstetter, 43, a resident of rural Charles City, died on Wednesday morning, June 19, 1991, at the Floyd County Memorial Hospital, after a lengthy illness.
Funeral services were held Friday at the St. John Lutheran Church in Nashua. Rev. Robert Fitzgerald, former pastor, officiated. Burial was in the Riverton Cemetery, south of Charles City.
Michael Anthony Auchstetter was born on August 18, 1947, in Charles City, the son of Joseph and Naomi Kegley Auchstetter. He received his education in rural Ionia and Bassett schools, in addition to the Charles City High School from which he graduated in 1966.
He was employed by the George P. Smith Company until it was destroyed by the 1968 tornado. He was then a salesman for Sieg Auto Parts in Charles City until 1991. He was a member of the St. John Lutheran Church in Nashua, the Elks Club, the Nashua Country Club, and was a former member of the Twisters Square Dance Club.
Living family members include his parents, Joe and Naomi Auchstetter of Charles City; three brothers and their wives: Wayne and Marva, David and Barbara, all of Nashua, and Douglas and Pam of Rockford; a sister, Karen (Mrs. Steven) Nixt of Waukee; six nieces and two nephews.
