Funeral services for William Thieman, 51, a Marble Rock, Iowa, area businessman, were held on Friday, August 7, 1992, at the Marble Rock United Methodist Church, with Rev. Shirley Meendering officiating, and with burial in the Westside Cemetery in Marble Rock. Reid's Funeral Chapel of Marble Rock was in charge of arrangements.

William Luther Thieman was born June 19, 1941 on the family farm west of Marble Rock, a son of Earl H. "Ben" and Margaret E. (Luther) Thieman, and died Wednesday, August 5, 1992, at the Floyd County Memorial Hospital in Charles City, of an apparent heart attack.

He received his education at the Marble Rock public schools and as a young man worked for his father in the Gulf Service Station, and later for Mel Bruggeman at the Standard Service Station. Bill also worked for the Rock Island Railroad and later Hydrotile in Nashua.

On January 3, 1963 he was united in marriage to Carol M. Rowe at the Marble Rock United Methodist Church. Following their marriage they made their home in Marble Rock, where Bill worked for the City of Marble Rock as Town marshall for ten years and in city maintenance. For ten years he operated Bill's Trustworthy Hardware Store in Marble Rock. In 1977 he started Bill's Plumbing and Heating, which he operated until his death.

Bill will be most remembered for his genuine love of people, great wit, and his generosity towards others.

He was a lifelong member of the Marble Rock United Methodist Church, Past President of the Marble Rock Lions Club, President of the Marble Rock Community Improvement Association, in which he was instrumental in the establishing the Marble Rock Medical Clinic. Bill was an avid supporter of the RRMR Booster Club.

Survivors include his wife Carol, of Marble Rock; two daughters, Jennifer Thieman of Moose Heart, Illinois, and Penne Thieman of Marble Rock; one son, Ryan "Ben" Thieman of Marble Rock; and one sister, Lillian "Toodles" and her husband Weldon Sult of Marble Rock.

He was preceded in death by his parents.
