Mabel A. Thiele, 86, of Alden, Iowa, died on Thursday, July 16, 1992 at Ellsworth Municipal Hospital in Iowa Falls.

Funeral services were held Monday, July 20, 1992, at United Methodist Church, Alden, with Rev. K. Gingerich officiating. Graveside services were held at Riverside Cemetery, Rockford.

Mabel A. Thiele was born on a farm north of Nora Springs, on June 20, 1906, the daughter of Winfield and Ethel Hart. She was a graduate of the Nora Springs Public School.

On July 2, 1927 she married Evert Thiele and lived in and on a farm near Rockford until her husband died in 1976 when she moved to Alden, Iowa.

Mabel Thiele did rug weaving and quilting, and also crocheted many, many baby sweaters and mittens for missions.

Survivors include one son, Terrill, of Knoxville, Tennessee; one daughter, Suzann Sailer of Alden; two sisters, Rose M. Hart and Mrs. Russell (Winifred) Shanks, both of Nora Springs; ten grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, one sister, and three brothers.
