Mary Louise (Petry) Lemons (aka Marylou) – February 22, 1922 – March 23, 2007

Mary Lou Lemons, 85, of Canyon City, Colorado died Friday, March 23, 2007.

Mrs. Lemons was raised in Charles City, Iowa. In 1942, she joined the war effort as a secretary in Washington D.C., where she met Joseph P. Lemons, an Army Air Force fighter pilot from Phoenix, Arizona.

Upon his return from temporary duty in England, they were married in Orlando, Florida, in November 1942.

Mrs. Lemons was a devoted Air Force wife and mother, who continued her secretarial skills as a volunteer with the American Red Cross. When her husband retired from the Air Force, she began painting china and sold her work for many years in stores in Tucson and Tubac, Arizona.

She is survived by her son, John Edward Lemons of Penrose, and grandsons, Ryan and Josiah, of Pueblo West.

Mrs. Lemons was preceded in death by her husband, in 1995.

At her request, there will be no funeral services.

Arrangements were handled through Holt Family Funeral Home.
