CHARLES CITY, IOWA - Beverly M. Deleeuw, 73, of 3056 Highway 18, Charles City died Sunday, Sept. 9, 2012, at Mercy Medical Center-North Iowa, in Mason City surrounded by her loved ones.

Per her wishes, Beverly is being cremated and a private memorial service will be held at a later date.

Beverly was born on February 12, 1939, in Charles City, to John and Harriet (Sisson) Mead. She graduated from Charles City High School in 1957. She then moved to Colorado to attend Airline School for teletyping. Upon graduation, she then moved to Grand Rapids, Mich., where she met and married Leonard Deleeuw on May 25, 1959. They then moved back to Charles City where she was employed at Oliver White Farm as a data processor. She continued working at Oliver/White Farm until retiring in 1990. Other jobs she held included work at the Appliance Center, working on the road as a flagger, working at Blongs Custom Wood Products and for the Census Bureau.

Beverly loved to paint ceramics and became known as the "Unicorn Lady" with her many ceramics of unicorns. She loved sharing her ceramics with friends and even started her own ceramic business. She was a loving wife to husband Leonard and daughter Denise and always enjoyed having her family around her as much as possible. She loved living on the farm with all the animals especially the horses, cats and dogs.

Beverly is survived by her husband Leonard, daughter Denise (Tony) Deleeuw; grandchildren: Beau (Kristin) Deleeuw and Nathan Deleeuw; along with many nieces, nephews and beloved friends.

Beverly was preceded in death by her parents and brothers Richard and Ronald Mead.
