Ulysses E. Garber, 65, of Floyd, Iowa, died Friday, May 15, 1992, at Mitchell County Memorial Hospital, Osage, Iowa, of respiratory complications following a heart attack.

Funeral services were held Monday, May 18, 1992, at the Grace United Methodist Church, Floyd, with Rev. D. Grim officiating. Burial was in the Hillside Cemetery, Marble Rock, with military graveside rites.

Ulysses Garber was born on May 25, 1926, in Marble Rock, the son of Guy and Zoe (Mills) Garber. He attended schools in Marble Rock. On June 2, 1953, at the First Methodist Church in Charles City, Iowa, he married Loretta Mae Sweet. Mr. Garber was a 30-year employee of the former Decker, and now Armour, meat packing companies of Mason City, retiring in 1982. He was a member of the UFCW Local P38. He was a charter member of the North Iowa Coon Hunters Association, and enjoyed coon hunting, as well as fishing with his children and grandchildren. He served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War.

Living family members include his wife, Loretta of Floyd; four sons: Dale and wife Virginia of Wallingford, Dennis and David, both of Floyd, and Douglas and wife Joyce of New Hampton; one daughter, Linda of Mason City; one brother, Floyd Garber of Charles City; one sister, Viola Johnson of Torquay, Saskatchewan, Canada; one aunt, Gila Merfeld of Charles City; four grandsons, three granddaughters, two nephews, one niece and several cousins and friends.
