FUNERAL SUNDAY FOR ALTA VISTA WOMAN

Charles City – Funeral services for Mrs. Augusta Joachim, who died Thursday in a New Hampton hospital were to be held Sunday at 2 p.m. in the Alta Vista Lutheran Church. The Rev. Herman Brandt, pastor, was to officiate. A prayer service was to be read at 1 p.m. at the Grossmann Funeral Home, Charles City, preceding the Alta Vista services, and burial was to be in the Alta Vista Cemetery.
Mrs. Joachim, 79, had been a patient at the hospital for a month. She had suffered a broken hip 4 months ago and death was attributed to complications resulting from the injury.

She was born in Germany, January 22, 1871, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. August Arndt. While still a small child she came to the United States with her parents. The family first lived at Milwaukee, Wisconsin, and later moved to Alta Vista. She was married October 20, 1892, to Charles Fredrick Joachim, who died in 1916.

During the past 20 years, Mrs. Joachim made her home with her daughter, Mrs. Arthur Kemp, 305 North Grand Avenue, Charles City. She was a member of St. John’s Lutheran Church while here.

In addition to her daughter, Elenora Kemp, she is survived by a son, Will Joachim, Alta Vista, 5 grandchildren, and 5 great-grandchildren.
