Minnie Ann (Rex) Clay – May 1, 1881 – February 16, 1946

MRS. CLAY DIES; RITES TUESDAY

Charles City – funeral services will be held at the Immaculate conception Catholic Church here Tuesday at 9 a.m. for Mrs. Minnie (Rex) Clay, 64, who died at the Cedar Valley Hospital here Saturday night at 8:15, where she had been a patient 2 weeks, suffering from a heart ailment.

She had been making her home here since her husband, Jewett Clay, prominent photographer here, Marble Rock and other localities died in 1943. She had been staying with a sister, Mrs. Grace (Rex) Curtis, Floyd County recorder. The Rev. Father T. J. Rooney, pastor will officiate and interment will be in Hillside Cemetery at Marble Rock.

Mrs. Clay was born May 1, 1881 at Hubbard, Minnesota, daughter of Martin and Claola (Winchell) Rex. She was married to Jewett Clay at Marble Rock, December 4, 1898. One child died in infancy. Mr. and Mrs. Clay resided in Charles City from 1916 to 1934 when they operated a photograph studio here, afterward going to Marble Rock and Mason City.

Besides Mrs. Curtis here, she is survived by the following other sisters and brothers; Mrs. Della Sanford, Hubbard, Minnesota; Mrs. Elizabeth Fuller, Rockford; Mrs. Viola Bloss, Pomona, California; Mrs. Tina Gates, Alhambra, California; Claude Rex, Osage; Fred Rex and Carl Rex, of Marble Rock.
